Sir Francis Drake is related to my post because he lead this attack.

The Singeing the King of Spain’s Beard is the name given to the attack at the Bay of Cadiz in April and May 1587 by the English lead by Sir Francis Drake. This attack was committed against the Spanish. Most of the Spanish fleets had been destroyed along with majority of the Spanish important supplies. The English had a major advantage over the Spaniards and continued with further attacks and raids after the attack at the Bay of Cadiz. The success of the English attacked delayed Spain’s plans of invading England by about a year. There had been many factors increasing tension between England and Spain such as economical, political, and religious confrontations between the two nations. Sir Francis Drake was very successful in his attack at the Bay of Cadiz and his further attacks against Spain. Over one hundred Spanish vessels of different tonnages were destroyed or captured during the expedition. Also the economical damage by the attacks guaranteed England the upper hand in the continuos conflict.
